Dog With A Very Sensitive Gag Reflex?

I have a dog that has a very touchy tummy. She has a slow digestive system–she can vomit up food 8 hours after she’s eaten. She plays with toys and gets nauseaus. If she gets too hot inside the house, she vomits–and we keep the house at 72F. We don’t leave her outside for long anymore, just long enough to go the the bathroom. We’ve been to the vet and he says that she just in sensitive and that there is nothing really wrong. We’ve run every test he can think of. Anyway, she gags and vomits easily and I was wondering if anyone else had run into this problem and if so, were there any herbal/home remedies that you have found work? She’s 3, fixed, great pyrenees, up to date w/ all shots, heartworm neg, etc, and , like I said, we’ve tested everything from tick diseases, to bacterial/parasitic infection, to actual internal organ problem.

Not out side? Chances are she has a lack of digestive enzimes. pills can be gotten form the health food store with three diferent types of digestive enzimes. a little yogart helps.
My favorite fix is to build an herb box with growng reen herbs she can chew on at will. Cat nip and mint, oregeno and thyme and parsley…Ask the herbalist what is good for digestion and grow it in the herb box. not only is it pretty but your dog will get her needs for green growing things met. One can also get those wheat sprout carpet things and let her nibble that. Greenies is suposed to be good but sounds like she needs the real thing.

Is she on a special diet? There are bland diets specifically for dogs with sensitive systems. I girl I work with also has a dog who vomits all the time. She has to feed him a pureed food and hold him sitting up for about 30 minutes afterward to minimize the chance that vomiting will occur. Your dog may have a completely different problem, though. And, your dog is a lot bigger than her’s! Her’s is a chihuahua.
It might be a good idea to get a second opinion since the problem has not been resolved, Maybe a different doctor would have a new idea or two to try?

We had a puppy pooch that also had a very sensitive tummy. Sadly he passed away from his condition, after a wonderfull 2 years with us…
    Some advice that we got..
1: controlled diet. Find food types that do not upset his tummy, Also give the smallest pellet food you can find, the larger the pelets, the more likely it will upset her tummy. Liquid foods digest a little quicker, and nutrients pass through to the blood stream quicker.
2: Keep play time to a minimun and keep her isolated from other dogs. Obviously not permenently, allow only short periods of interaction, so as not to get her overexcited.
3: If she has fluffy hair, Trim it short, so as to help keep her cooler.
4: Keep travel to the bare minimun, Dogs tend to hyperventilate in cars, Keep trips only for to the vet and back..
5: Keep plenty of Fresh Clean Cool water available for her.
6: See it you can get Pigs Pancreas from the butcher and feed her some on a regular basis (Raw, but blended). This contains lots of nutrients and enzymes that is needed to assist in digestion..
