I Want To Dye My Dyed Dark Brown Hair Red?

my hair is dyed dark brown. my roots are light brown. i want to dye it a dark red shade and i did. i used natural instincts rosewood. it only took on my roots because they were light. this was a semi permanent color. i knew this would happen because i’ve been dying my hair for years. since my roots are already red, if i use a PERMANENT dark red shade on my hair and not do the roots, will it turn the rest of my hair red? or will nothing happen? do i need to have it professionally stripped before it can be red? i can’t afford that and i don’t want to do it myself. i’d like to use hydrience in hibiscus, or herbal essences in spicy ginger. thanks.

Oh hunny..that wont work at all.
as a previous red head and now dark brown going back to red, I understand.
Box hair dyes will NOT work to reverse your hairs darkness. You are going to have to lighten it yourself. It’s easy so don’t worry.
Go to a Sally’s Beauty supply store
    Buy L’Oreal Creme Developer 40 $4http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/11…
Check out the L’Oreal red’s they have and mix it at home. $5
You just gotta get gloves and an applicator bottle – $3http://elitebeautysupply.com/hair_color/…
read the directions on the back, measure it out in the bottle and put it on like shampoo. easy as pie. total = $12
    If not that
You could start using a clarifying shampoo to over time lighten your hair and get the color out. It will help remove the buildup and provide the hair with a clean start. wont lighten for 2-4 weeks though.Use Shampoo 3 by Paul Mitchell $11
You can strip the hair color but this isn’t recommended because it does damage your hair a lot. You can get ColorOops hair stripper $13http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j…
I do recommend getting this fixed professionally! Call around and see what stylist would charge.
ALSO check out the Paul Mitchell school, you can get $10 cuts, I’m sure other stuff like color wouldn’t be as much either.
    Good luck.
