Discount On Frontline & Heartgard For Multiple Dogs, Or Natural/herbal Alternative, Please?
Buying Frontline & Heartgard for 3 very very large dogs is very expensive. Is there any place I can get it besides my vet at a bulk discount price perhaps?
Can someone suggest a NATURAL, maybe herbal alternative to Frontline, please? (that works!) I want to keep my dogs healthy, but sometimes I think I’m just throwing away money with some of these expensive products. My dog still itches and has the occasional few fleas with Frontline Plus, which I don’t understand because they’re always inside, only go out to exercise & do their business. I’m so tired of throwing away big money and getting small results.
Unfortunately there isnt much better alternetive to flea treatment than the product that you are using.
Many people have found that alternating from month to month between Frontline and Advantage helps to control the fleas better, as they both have different active ingredients- so the fleas cant get immune to them. Sometimes when you use the same product for years on end they can start to get immune to the treatment- so this is a good method to prevent this problem.
I dont think there are any natural preventetives that work better than this. Garlic is supposed to help prevent fleas- but honestly- the effects are minimal. Have a go with Frontline one month, then Advantage the next and see how that goes.
As you are already buying the large tubes of treatment I cant recommend buying the large ones and changing the dose, as you can with the smaller dogs.
You might want to try buying the treatment in bulk from a website mayve- although this stuff can be difficult to get. If you have an ABN number, or you are close with your vet or good pet store owner, you might have more luck at buying it at cost price, but I dont think it will take the price down too much… Good luck!
If your dogs are still itching after an Advantage treatment it might be worth having them checked out at the vets for allergies or the like.
I ordered frontline from an australian company and I received a letter from the post office that it was seized and they would not return it nor could I get my money back from the website I ordered it from. I live in southern California and I have been using Frontline Plus on my three dogs for years and never had a problem. I order it from VetDepot and they have been great. I usually get it two days after I order it

Sadly fleas are becoming resistant to frontline in some areas. You might want to look into comfortitis which is a new flea control tablet, advantage or advantix. I don’t know of any natural or herbal products that work worth a darn on fleas. You can maybe get your heartgard online at pet meds or talk to your vet about using one of the generics like iverheart max or tri-heart. The generics just as effective but about half the price as heartgard.
Try http://www.petsuppliesnet.com They have the best prices I’ve been able to find. I live in flea country but most of the people I know only use Frontline or Advantage as a cure, not a preventive. Also, if I had only 3 dogs, I would put it on one or two and let them be the flea killers. I have 4 dogs and only treat 2 if fleas become a problem. You also might try bombing your house. It’s a cheap way to make sure you don’t have them in the house. I get bombs that come 3 to a package at the grocery store and use them 2 weeks apart.
I was referred to this site by several ppl who have bought from them & were happy but I have not purchased anything myself so I can’t say much about them. They do carry quite a few flea & heart worm products including the generic versions which are cheaper. They also sell large blocks of heart worms preventatives for use by breeders, rescues etc in 100 pack. The ppl who referred me said it took a week to get their order even though it comes from Australia. I have no idea if this is the American version though I strongly suspect it is made in Australia so if that bothers you, don’t buy.http://www.pets-megastore.com.au/index.p…
