1) is this working for you.....if not, you have nothing to lose
if you try some types of food....adding iron tablets could be dangerous.....check with your doctor on that.
I suggest that people eat red meat and green leafy vegies together....the combination binds the iron in the stomach more easily.....
examine your eating habits carefully....and talk to an alternative medicine doctor

To answer the questioner - no. There is nothing that will fix the damage to your kidneys that would cause what the Epogen is treating. Aside from chemo, this is likely a lifelong drug treatment for you.
Talk to your doctor about your feelings. Your wanting to be off of the drug is likely more a reflection of you wanting to be cured more so than wanting some other way of treating the condition.
To everyone else - Epogen is rather expensive and is not prescribed for regular anemia. It is given to chemo pts, kidney dialysis pts and pts that have immunicological situations that have damaged the renal system.
If this person is on Epogen then they are well beyond the Whole Foods snake oil isle for treatment.

Iron helps your body produce hemoglobin and myoglobin.
Look for a supplement that contains organic iron---ferrous gluconate or ferrous fumarate.

Life Extension Foundation Recommendations
Scientific studies have shown that nutrients may be able to help manage some forms of blood disorders. For clarity, Life Extension Foundation recommendations have been organized according to various diseases of the blood. The Life Extension Foundation suggests:
For pernicious anemia (Note: If blood tests do not show rapid improvement, vitamin B12 injections must be administered. See your physician for more details.):
Vitamin B12—2000 to 4000 mcg daily, orally or sublingually, in the form of methylcobalamin
Zinc—30 milligrams (mg) daily
Copper—2 to 3 mg daily
Selenium—200 micrograms (mcg) daily
For folic acid deficiency anemia:
Folic acid—1600 mcg daily
Vitamin B12—2000 to 4000 mcg daily, sublingually
Zinc—30 mg daily
Copper—2 to 3 mg daily
Selenium—200 mcg daily
For iron deficiency anemia:
Iron Protein Plus—300 mg of iron protein succinate, equivalent to 15 mg of elemental iron per capsule daily
Zinc—30 mg daily
Copper—2 to 3 mg daily
Selenium—200 mcg daily
To help maintain healthy blood (including healthy platelets and white blood cells):
Shark liver oil—500-1000mg [containing 20% alkylgycerols (100-200mg)] a day.
Vitamin C—2000 mg daily
Vitamin E—400 international units (IU) daily
Vitamin A—3000 IU daily
Zinc—30 to 60 mg daily
Copper—2 to 3 mg daily
Selenium—200 mcg daily
Folate and vitamin B12—800 mcg of folate and 300 mcg of vitamin B12 daily
Fish oil—Two 600-mg soft-gel capsules of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) twice daily (for a total of 2400 mg daily)
Melatonin—20 mg daily
Link to full protocol below.
Good Luck!!!

there are several different types of anemia, procrit isnt something you just jump to so if youre using procrit im sure your doctor would have ruled out anemia that could have been corrected by taking some $2 iron tablets as the person above suggests. nobody here will be able to give you a reliable answer, talk to your doctor to see if other options are available for you.
